THE Most Expensive Home: $250M Bel Air Mansion

Los Angeles is now home to the most expensive house for sale in the country. A Bel Air mega-mansion has been listed for $250 Million dollars, making it the most expensive home currently in the market.

Just how lavish is the Bel-Air property? The extravagant 38,000 square foot property features 12 bedrooms, 21 bathrooms, five bars and three kitchens and comes complete with its own moat, four-lane bowling alley and an 85-foot Italian glass infinity pool fitted with a hydraulic theater-sized movie screen. If that's not enough to attract the world's billionaire buyers, some of the home's other perks include a spa and fitness center, two cellars stocked with a multi-million dollar wine collection, and a 40-seat, James Bond-themed home cinema.

Real estate developer Bruce Makowsky (of BAM Luxury Group) largely builds properties for billionaire buyers, and he designed this home 'on spec'—without a buyer in mind—but with the confidence that it would inevitably entice another billionaire. His assurance wasn’t overshot, as the house has already attracted more than half a dozen potential buyers after less than a day on the public market.

Makowsky d the home as a mega-yacht, but on land, adding that lots of billionaires spend more money on boats (which they seldom use) than they do on their homes. Makowsky spared no expense in creating the most excessive adult (and child) fantasy land—curating a lifestyle unique and exclusive to billionaires. His ideal homeowner would be somewhat of a homebody—someone who appreciates extravagant amenities at home so he/she never feels the needs to leave. 'People spend over half their lives in their house,' he told CNBC. 'So when you're home, it should be the ultimate oasis. You should have every single entertainment aspect you could have in one home.'

Whereas average home buyers might be able to get the fridge thrown in with the sale, the fully furnished Bel-Air home comes with a $30-million fleet of exotic cars and motorcycles parked in the foyer, including a custom Rolls-Royce, a Bugatti and a vintage Allard. The four-lane bowling alley has shoes in every size, and the candy room is filled with towering cylinders of sweets.

Two wine cellars are stocked with hundreds of bottles of Champagne and wine. There are glass ping-pong and billiards tables that were custom-built, and 130 artworks collected from around the world.

Want even more status symbols? A helicopter is parked on the roof — craned in because the house doesn't have a permit for landings and takeoffs. A Hobie Cat sailboat sits on a deck ready for imaginary voyages. Stuck in the crocodile-embossed elevator? The house comes with seven full-time employees, who live in a separate staff wing.

The home “comes with everything,” owner-developer Bruce Makowsky said. “You don’t even need a toothbrush.”
